Licensed Professional Counselor

Let’s be honest, asking for help is never easy, and talking to a stranger about our problems is even harder. We are often taught to keep problems to ourselves or told to “just get over it.” However, sometimes “just getting over it” alone is not realistic and we need help.

Taking that first step and finding a counselor can initially be challenging and scary, but also deeply rewarding and helpful. Counseling is a collaborative approach between the counselor and the client, requiring

patience, honesty and effort from both parties. I believe that one style of therapy does not fit everyone. Therefore, I strive to understand what works for you and provide a tailored approach to help you achieve your goals. I aim to establish a safe, fun, nonjudgmental place for you to explore the problems affecting you and to help you overcome the hurts and hang-ups that may be holding you back.

Together, we will explore how to overcome these hurts by resolving problematic thoughts and interactions with others.  I love helping people grow and gain a better understanding of themselves and I love what lessons of strength my clients teach me.

About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with individuals and couples in a private practice setting. I received my Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University and my Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. After spending many years in the business world, I left to pursue my passion to help others. I feel my time spent in the business sector and being raised on a ranch in southwest Oklahoma allows me to identify and connect with a wide variety of people and experiences.

I utilize various orientations and techniques in order to be the most effective in helping you resolve your specific issues. To that, I primarily use a combination of cognitive, interpersonal, and narrative approaches and would describe my personal style as honest, genuine, and direct. I am, by nature, pragmatic and sarcastic, and I often use humor and analogy in sessions. Below are some of my basic tenets of counseling:

  • My priority is to establish a safe, supportive, and trusting environment. If I cannot provide this therapy is difficult to impossible

  • Thoughts, emotions, and behavior are intimately tied together. Each can influence the other. Understanding these interactions can facilitate improvements to problematic situations in our lives

  • The same stories that shaped us in the past can, at times, create difficulties in our present. Understanding the meaning and impact of these stories can help us make sense of why we do the things we do.

  • I believe every person possesses the strength and courage to improve their life as he or she desires.

In addition to providing counseling I am a state approved LPC supervisor, as well as a member of the Oklahoma Counseling Association and a National Certified Counselor.
